Weekend Course : Horse Whispering Course

This is going to be a very popular course, and one not to miss if you are serious about changing the way you handle and train your horse, as it will change the way to look at your horse forever. It is quite an intensive but very worthwhile course, it will cover the natural herd behaviour of the horse and how this effects the way they look at the world, and respond to what you ask of them. The major importance of body language and how you can use it to your advantage, and then you really can have conversations with your horse, once you talk to him in ‘Equus’ and treat him like a horse. There will be a variety of practical sessions in the round pen, which will endorse everything you learn.

Now don’t go thinking you can bring your youngster here in the morning, and you can ride him home at lunchtime! If you have a youngster, bring him along.

Bomb-proofing Your Horse

Max Number : 5 people

Duration : 3 hours

Cost : :35

Rattling tins, flappy plastic bags, walking over tarpaulin, or between two bits of plastic, probably enough to send most horses into orbit. However, it is important that your horse learns to think and deal with things before the flight instinct kicks in. The only practical way of preparing them for this is to 'desensitize' them. We'll show you how.

Keeping Your Horse Barefoot

Max Number : 10 people

Duration 3 hours

Lets face it given the choice, and the cost of keeping a horse in new shoes every 6-8 weeks, it is probably something we have all thought about at some time or other, but you cant keep a working horse barefoot, especially a TB type, or can you? All the horses here at Equitherapy are are barefoot, and have excellent balanced feet. There is clearly more to it than just taking the shoes off, and giving them a rasp every now and again, but come and see how one of the worlds most renowned experts in the field of equine podiatry approaches the subject of getting horses barefoot.
